MEC and IT Tallaght Student Collaboration
12/10/2017

Yesterday marked the start of this year’s collaboration between MEC and the final year advertising student at IT Tallaght. For the past few years, a group of students have had the opportunity to gain hands on experience through real client briefs with the guidance of our MEC staff. Once again, it looks to be a fun and exciting collaboration for everyone involved as two IT Tallaght teams will be developing a new brand positioning campaign for our client, Vodafone. Our very own, Colleen Savage and Paul Enright, lead the brief kick off and we cannot wait to see what ideas the students come up with! Over the years, we’ve had great success with the collaboration and have even ended up hiring a few of the students. However, it isn’t only a fun experience of us but it’s a great learning experience for all the students involved. IT Tallaght marketing lecturer, Patricia Medcalf, stated “Collaborating with MEC has been an extremely positive experience for the Advertising students at IT Tallaght because it exposes them to the realities of working on a real brief. When they pitch their ideas and strategies back to MEC and the client, the constructive feedback they receive is invaluable. And of course, the networking opportunities are immense because they get to work with industry experts, enabling them to showcase their skills to potential employers. With three IT Tallaght graduates currently working for MEC, the proof is in the pudding!”

In case you missed them, be sure to check out our Q&A with our three IT Tallaght graduates. We will also be checking in with the students throughout the year so be sure to keep an eye out for updates on the project.
