Meet our IT Tallaght Graduates: James Geoghegan

Another excellent employee working at MEC from IT Tallaght is James Geoghegan. Part two in our three part graduate Q&A looks at how IT Tallaght prepared him for MEC and provides advice for students interested in joining the agency world.

James graduated in 2015 and has spent the last two years at MEC. He is currently a communications executive and works on brands such as Beirsdorf, Pfizer and Colgate Palmolive

How did your course at IT Tallaght prepare you for your job?
The Advertising & Marketing Communications course in IT Tallaght, prepared me very well for my job. The course provided a good mixture of practical classes and projects, on top of a solid theoretical foundation which have helped me progress and perform in my current role. When starting the internship I already knew a lot of the terminology which helped me settle in quickly and move forward on to using and developing the practical skills needed to fulfil my job.

What advice would you have for final year students who are interested in joining an agency after graduation?
I definitely recommend working in an agency after college. It’s a great way to get started in the industry and can help you develop the areas you’re interested in working in. At an agency you’ll be exposed to a variety of different types of people and clients, that can lead you to finding a niche area that you want to focus and work more in.

Be sure to check back tomorrow to hear more advice from our final and most recent graduate.
